Last night after I picked Lora Kate up from daycare, we came home and ate dinner. After dinner she took a bath. She stood up so I could wash her bottom half. Well she leaned towards the edge of the tub to pick up a toy and she slipped. She fell and hit her face against the edge of the tub. I thought she had hit her mouth so as she's screaming I'm checking out her mouth, her teeth, her lips and tongue and I don't see anything. I can't pick her up bec/ she'd be freezing if I pulled her out of the water. So by this time she's still screaming and I'm crying because I feel so bad. I mean I was RIGHT there with her. I lean down and am getting all wet but trying to hug and comfort her and talking to her and I look and her eye is bleeding. She has a nice gash above her left eye and it's bright red with black and blue marks. It's pitiful and I felt so bad. Of course when I see this I start crying even harder. She's comforted and goes back to playing but I'm the one still crying. I called Mom and she came over to assess the situation. We both agreed that she was okay since the cut stopped bleeding pretty quickly and she didn't act delirious or anything. I can't even tell you what a HORRIBLE mother it made me feel like. I just felt awful for it. Luckily though she is okay and she doesn't act like she even remembers it. I gave her a little Tylenol this morning bec/ I'm sure that it was sore and pretty sensitive. I've now experienced for the first time the feeling of what it's like when your baby gets hurt and you feel like you should have prevented it...afterall I was RIGHT there!!! At least she's okay!
As Mom was leaving we were trying to find her keys. She had given them to Lora Kate to play with and we couldn't find them anywhere. We searched the entire house, every single room for a good 30 minutes or more. In the meantime, Mike comes over and starts to help us. Between the 3 of us we can not seem to locate the keys. Lora Kate had on one of her footed Christmas onesies. Mike says, "Well maybe she dropped them down her pajamas." Sure enough...there are the keys....in the pants leg of her pajamas. Needless to say we got a huge kick out of this! :-)

Neely did the same thing in the bathtub when she was little. She hit her mouth and cut her lip. I went off the deep end... don't feel bad!!
